Our Mission & Story
Friendship starts here — how DC Gals came to be, and what we stand for.
Our Mission
DC Gals was created with one simple goal in mind: to make it easier for women in their 20s to form real, lasting friendships in a city that can often feel overwhelming and transient.
Through thoughtfully planned events — ranging from brunches and workout classes to happy hours, book clubs, and seasonal adventures — we help women break out of their routines and build relationships grounded in support, shared interests, and fun.
We believe that friendship is one of the most important parts of adulthood, and that finding your people shouldn’t be hard.
“We’re more than just a social group — we’re a sisterhood rooted in kindness, curiosity, and inclusivity. No cliques, no judgment, just a welcoming space where all women can show up as their full selves.”
Our Story
DC Gals started with one girl, one idea, and one big city.
In May 2024, Carly, our founder, moved back home to D.C. after graduating from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Like so many women in their 20s, she quickly realized how challenging it can be to meet new people and build meaningful friendships post-college.
So, DC Gals was born in December 2024. What began as a simple idea — meetups for brunch, hot girl walks, and hangouts – has grown into a fast-growing community where friendships are formed and local recommendations are shared.
Carly started DC Gals as its only member, and it has since blossomed into a go-to space for women across the city to come together, support one another, and have fun. ♡
